Adding your corporate logo to your workwear and uniforms is a great way to get your business noticed and make your staff feel valued and part of the team. It can also help gain customers trust as they will be reassured who you are. Branding your workwear can be a really cost effective way of promoting your business, so lets look at the options…
Branding your workwear and uniforms can be done in one of two ways, by print or embroidery. We often get asked which would we recommend but it really depends on the garment, the purpose of your branding and your budget.
Here are a few of the key things to consider when you make your choice.
Budget:
For most businesses budget will be an important factor and the general rule of thumb is if your budget is small then print will be your best option. Embroidery is a more hardwearing alternative that can last longer than print if you have the budget for it.
The material of the garment:
It is really important to consider the material of the garment you are branding as certain materials will lend themselves to one or the other. For example waterproof garments may not be suitable for embroidery as the lining of the garment could be damaged during the embroidery process. Another consideration is if you are printing on fleeces the pile may go flat when pressed. These are just a few things to consider so if you are unsure please refer to manufacturer guidelines or ask our team the question.
Care and washing requirements:
If your garments require a boil wash you need to consider that the high temperature may crack the heat seal so embroidery would be the recommended choice.
The purpose of the branding:
Businesses can choose to brand their workwear and uniforms for many reasons with brand awareness being up top. Embroidery is extremely hardwearing and can generally add a more premium and professional look but can come at a higher cost than print, which if it is a branding exercise this extra cost can be deemed acceptable. However it is required for a short terms project i.e. an exhibition or a charity or fund raising event then print would be the more cost effective option.
Logo size and detail:
Certain size logos will work better with print than embroidery and as a general guide print will work better with larger designs and will definitely be more cost effective. The level of detail in your logo also needs to be considered as if there is a lot of small intricate detail then print again would be your best option.
Printed Workwear:
There are many printing techniques available but we generally use transfer and vinyl printing.
